HK-Mainland Joint Business Liaison Committee

Introduction
To strengthen both the trade and economic relations between mainland China and Hong Kong, the China Council for Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) signed a co-operation agreement in Beijing on 5 April 2001 with the Federation of Hong Kong Industries, the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, the Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong, and the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce to form the Hong Kong-Mainland Joint Business Liaison Committee.

Each of the four association takes its turn to serve as the Hong Kong secretariat.

Objectives
To provide a consultative channel for the Hong Kong business community to reflect their views to the central Government. Towards this end a telephone hotline (2117 1221) is provided for public enquiries about policies, regulations and administrative measures on issues related to trade, economy, taxation, customs, investment and government charges in mainland China;
To enhance communication between Hong Kong enterprises and their Mainland counterparts as well as the Mainland government through the official web site, www.hkchinabiz.org.hk, where information on new changes to rules and business policies in the Mainland is provided;
To act as a platform for soliciting views of Hong Kong enterprises and reflecting them to the central Government in order to improve the formulation and implementation of new policies; and
To offer assistance to Hong Kong enterprises on economic disputes through arbitration, negotiation or mediation.
