Benefits to Members

From its inception in 1960 the Federation's primary purpose has been to serve the various needs of Hong Kong's industrial and business communities. It continues to play a major role in shaping the community's prosperity. The Federation actively:

Promotes and fosters the interests of Hong Kong's industrial and business communities;
Promotes trade, investment, technological advancement, manpower development, and business opportunities in Hong Kong, mainland China and overseas; and
Represents industry's views and advises the Hong Kong SAR Government on policies and legislation which affect industry.

How the Federation does this:

By representing members on the Legislative Council and various high-powered Governmental advisory boards and committees;
By acting as a bridge between its members and overseas business communities;
By organising activities to promote trade, investment, technology transfer and manpower training;
By updating members on business opportunities in Hong Kong and all over the world; and
By providing consultancy and certification services to its members.

Some of the latest achievements:

Setting up of the PRD Council so that members can enjoy a wide range of free services and seek local support in resolving their problems occurring in the PRD;
Providing channels to alleviate members' difficulties on issues related to power and labour shortages in China;
Promoting efficiency of cross border traffic flows (in both goods and passengers) between HKSAR and the Mainland; and
Joining as Legislative Councillors in 2004 by two General Committee members to reflect members' views to policy makers.
